Mrs Dr GB:
Cushca and I have seen that film. Some things that make me think of Moulin Rouge:
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:06:15 pm)

Mrs Dr GB:
1. When we went to see it we complained to the cinema manager because in the ladies loos there were flies round the condom machine, the place was that dirty.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:06:40 pm)

Mrs Dr GB:
2. There was a woman in the cinema with TB. She would not get herself a drink or piss off out of there.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:06:59 pm)

Decoy:
O Brother Where Are Thou was not a musical. The lyrics did not advance the narrative. Though they did record one song, it doesn't count because it was lip synched.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:07:17 pm)

Mrs Dr GB:
3. The Aguilera etc song reminds me of a Singapore cab driver who spoke no English except "Is great soundtrack"
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:07:27 pm)

Mrs Dr GB:
4. The elephant she lived in was really cool.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:07:37 pm)

Mrs Dr GB:
5. Our parents came with us when we saw the film. It was their first time at the cinema in years. They hated the film so much I think it may be some time before they venture back there.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:08:28 pm)

Decoy:
Lived in an Elephant? Cool.

(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:10:56 pm)

Decoy:

(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:12:54 pm)

Baseball News:
The facelift of the worst lineup in the major leagues got another nip and tuck this morning. The Mets signed Boston, Dec 13 - outfielder Roger Cedeņo to a four-year, $18 million contract, inserting him at the top of a lineup that is rapidly going from limp to lively.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:13:11 pm)

bela:
No, not yet but soon.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:13:15 pm)

Queenie:
I consider "O Brother" a SORT of musical. Not your traditional old Hollywood style Ethel Merman musical, but a movie that features -- revolves around, really -- musical numbers. True the songs don't advance the narrative, but neither did the songs in Moulin Rouge, and it's definately a musical. But "O Brother" had scenes like the sirens and the folks getting baptizes in which everyone was singing. Not something people normally do, in films or in real life. But if you think that they don't lip sync in every single musical since the dawn of time, yer nuts.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:14:54 pm)

Queenie:
There was also a big song and dance at the KKK rally, and the old black grave diggers sang a death song when they were going to hang George Clooney.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:15:40 pm)

Queenie:
That says "musical" to me! I also consider "Dancer in the Dark" a musical.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:16:03 pm)

Chewing Wax:
The Blues Brothers was a musical. And they only lip synced about half the numbers.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:16:16 pm)

Queenie:
baptised.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:17:01 pm)

bela:
At least my headache is gone.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:17:07 pm)

Chewing Wax:
That's good
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:17:21 pm)

Queenie:
I mean baptized.
(Thu Dec 13, 2001 - 4:17:23 pm)
