I have a question. Is 'boner' a synonym for 'error' in Americaland?

In old, 1950s America. it was indeed a synonym. Nowadays, the word is almost exclusively a reference to a penile erection. One must be over 70 years old to use it in the "error" usage. Seeing it in old books or magazines will cause all of to giggle a lot. Why do you ask? Is it still in use in the UK?
