Chewing Wax:
The contractor was an old friend of Anne’s with a raging opioid and marijuana addiction. In retrospect not the best bullet points on a resume. Talked a good game but was in way over his head. But yes to being paid early and not showing up. I have every text he sent saying why he couldn’t make it that day.

The last straw was him demanding the final payment which was due upon completing before he’d finish. And then demanding an extra 3k because he underbid. Anne then wrote him the scariest letter I’ve ever read. He came to Jesus, mostly finished and took what we originally agreed upon. I hate him soooo much.

sounds familiar. our carpenter was a jewish kid, opioids could have been in the mix, as he talked a lot about meek people getting stuff later. i told him that it sounds like an excuse to get pushed around, and he should get it in writing; he probably under-bid everything. he said his dad was a big deal. not sure about that (he didn't mention his name), but the dozen or so guys who hung around him seemed to think so.
