This just came over the wire. LONDON (Reuters) - Selfish, superficial and obsessed with sex -- that's the unflattering image of British women that emerges from some of the country's leading female magazines. "Today's British woman has no children, cares or responsibilities. Her life is a round of tawdry indulgences. She rarely thinks, except of sex," concluded a survey, published on Monday, of 11 top-selling women's magazines. "She enjoys drunken pranks once a--ociated with adolescent boys and calls this 'girl power'. Her only moral value is being nonjudgmental; counseling is the solution to every problem. She is reluctant to make an effort in any cause except the gym," said the survey by the Social Affairs Unit, an independent research and educational trust.

THe last one was Weezer *blush* and I just about got the s--t kicked out of me by a bunch of unruly mosh pit-ing teenyboppers. So I went back to the beer garden where me and the other six people old enough to go back there were able to watch the show in peace. But that's the club where I first saw Robyn. As far as best albums of the year...To be honest, the best stuff I've heard this year has been local. Everything on the radio and other popular media seems to be utter crap. I like the Wallflowers, though. Locally, my faves are a guy called Luther Russell (who, incidentally, used to play with the Wallflowers) and my husbands group, of course.

Well, so many replies to my question! I'm so pleased!! S.I.H.: I agree with your comment about the sex (or almost sex) in Leaving Las Vegas....The part where she pours the liquor over her boobs and he licks it off....AAhhhh...But I have to say that the movie with the best sex that I've seen yet (that wasn't a dirty movie, of course) has to be Wild At Heart. Nicolas Cage again. Imagine that. Or another Nicolas Cage movie that was really really hot was Zondalee. The movie Trees Lounge made me fall in love with Steve Buscemi (who was also in Zondalee for about a split second). The part where he instigates wrestling around on the floor with his niece as an excuse to touch her...that really got me. About Dracula: I honestly fell asleep during that one. And that guy says "Winona can butcher my role anyday." Hee hee!!

Wow - Robyn likes Notorious. Damn good film, with Cary Grant as a real slimeball(!). Ingrid Bergmans great in that ... Ithought Starship Troopers was based on the Yes song. Wont it be cool when Storefront Hitchc--k comes out and they review it on all those dumb "thumbs up" shows like Siskel and Ebert. Pretentious gits. Lets hope your word thru the grapevine on Dammes love for the music "shines thru" on the soundtrack, Sleepy. Any news on the Drake front. Incidentally, the Brazil FAQ is terribly interesting, especially the bit on Information Retrieval charges. Apparently the European cut of the film covers more ground. Heads a good film by the way. Mulligan's body was found in a hotel in the suburb of Double Bay on Sat--day. Local media said the 97-year-old singer was found hanging from a belt attached to the automatic closing device of his hotel room door. Officials say it will take weeks to carry out tests to determine if Mulligan's death was suicide.

What about Showgirls? Boy was it a big piece of crap. I don't think Boxing Helena was all THAT bad. The ending was a total cop out, sure, but I don't think it completely sucked. At least the sex in Boxing Helena wasn't as grotesque as the sex in Showgirls. You US kiddies are all wide awake, whilst I'm starting to feel really tired. I've got to learn three Italian tenses and write an essay when I get home. Lovely. Bye everyone! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FROM: Sleepy DATE: Mon Nov 24 10:37:30 PST 1997 I don't know the film very well, but thanks so much for telling me the name CW. The friend who would have know the answer has gone out gigging this evening. I'd have had to wait until he got home. Yes, those audience shots have left people screaming. Worst film? Hmmm.
