Hello Sleepy & everyone else. Glad to see the word Duvet has amused and confused so many. The duvet is a glorious invention that can never be left when awakened on cold mornings. I guess Robyn is keeping a fairly low profile at the moment, sad really. rOb, do you really think that your ex will come rushing back to you after she finds out you've been showing her picture on the modern computer machine? Hmmmmmm.... And Willybee, cheer up!!!!!! Love does exist, and it could even exist between you and me, who knows?? I feel a bit left out of your Sunday chat plans. Hurrumph!

Punch and Judy? The Onion? All I knows is a duvet is a quilt of eider down or swan's down. Yummy indeed. Do you mean the puppet show? I saw a Punch and Judy show in Covenent Gardens when I was six years old. We went to Hamley's (is that right? The giant toy store?).

Morning everyone. Overnight postings were fun. I dutifully checked out the picture of Claire. All I could see on the screen was a blurry face, so I had to print the picture out for more clarity ... hang on, what the hell am I doing, printing out pictures of other peoples' ex-girlfriends..?! Anyways, the Violent Femmes gig was really excellent. Fabulous atmosphere, great songs and, I'm told there was a great punch-up at the front between two girls - taking the band name too literally it would seem.... There something rather magical about 3,000 people singing along to Add It Up. I hope Robyn plays in LA for you. McCabe's sounds like a great venue.

Ray Davies is the story teller and world creator of a generation of music. f--king brill. So, I'm still not sure when the chat is set for, is it still Sunday morning at 11 EST? Hey CW, I always wondered what really happened to that cat. It really did weigh 27 pounds - I saw it with my own eyes. Where's rOb's URL? What's wrong with this woman? rOb is obviously THEE MAN. 'Days' is a song Ray Davies wrote. Elvis Costello covered it (I think he did it with Brian Eno). It first appeared on the 'Until The End of the World' soundtrack (a great soundtrack, with cool songs by R.E.M., U2, Nick Cave, Patti and Fred Smith((before he died, of course)), and a slew of others. Check it out), and it later appeared on Elvis' cover album of jazz and R'n'B ballads, 'Kojak Variety'. These are both great albums, although I'm fairly partial to 'Kojak', just because I've deluded myself into thinking I'm Elvis Costello's illegitamate love child. Robyn's just my illegitamate Godfather.

It was an excellent show, but not nearly three hours. He came on stage by himself and did a quick Stop Sobbing Now, Well Respected Man, and another I can't remember. Than the band came on. Waterloo Sunset, Celluloid Heroes and were high points. It was in a tiny venue with a rotating stage. He said it was a quickly thrown together impromptu tour. Which explained why I had just heard about it three days before and still got eighth row seats. I mean, these were The Kinks.

CW - Rays first solo won't be out till winter (?) 98. I think hes recording it at the moment. Wow - you saw Ray - did he do anything off the Great Lost album, like The Way Love Used to Be? or Days? Thats a good one. Surprising for such a sad song its in a major key (D to be precise) I think hes calling the new album The Storyteller. ... I think hes gonna read Waterloo Sunset at his gigs now along with XRAY. He must put on a good show, what? I mean, I've heard its near three hours, and with songs like "Tired of Waiting" and "Harry Rag" what more can you ask for?

mp3 stands for MPEG layer 3 compression, a sound file that sounds very good, approaching CD. these files are stirring up controversy, due to the trading of files on the net, and also due to the high quality of sound available. mp3 players are available as shareware. one popular mp3 player is called "winamp".

I don't have a soundchip so I haven't heard it. Sleepy - ARE the Sundays playing? I didn't think they were doing a tour. It'd wake the baby up. Static and Silence is quite good isn't it, tho it doesn't really ROCK OUT, perhaps for the same reason. Incidentally, whats with this falling cat business. Decoy - I think the Ray Davies movie you're alluding to is from the mid 80s Return to Waterloo. I think its a hour or so and occasionally pops up on A&E (I think). I have the soundtrack, and a couple songs on it are from the Kinks Word of Mouth, which is strange. "Return to Waterloo" is a good tune tho. The book Ray just put out has the lyrics for some songs off that, along with the lyrics for "afternoon tea", "Celluloid Heroes". He builds stories around his songs. Like "Holiday Romance" (off of Seap Opera) is about, you guessed it, a holiday romance. There are main characters throughout, and it is really quite revealing. Unlike his first book X-Ray. I'm not sure that really came off. It wasn't explicit as Daves, which went up to the point of him f--king another guy up the bum just about.

yes, sleepster, 11am is a bit more civilized. and, yes, i'll be delighted to walk you through the process to make this thing work. you might want to show a bit early to the cafe to set up the irc part, and don't be afraid to ask the nice folks at the cafe how to do it. i suspect that if you to say them "i have to chat on irc, please set it up", they'll be happy to oblige. i was wrong: i have to play soccer thursday.

I'm transmitting extra-cooperative vibes to people today, and they seem to be responding very positively. Still, better not make a habit of it... I think Morissey is on to something there. Thanks for the perspective slap. HI Myk, sleepy, Willy, Morissey, rOb (more congrats on the cd). I'm getting worried about Chewer. I can't get a hold of him. For all I know, he and his family were eaten by Broncos fans when he was trying to stand up for the honor of Todd Collins. A more honorable demise I can't imagine, but still ... I expect that Robyn is a patient investor, as all smart people are, and sees all this hubub as a buying opportunity while stocks and funds become under-valued. If you are really nervous, back off on the small-caps for a while and go blue chip - they will ride this little hump out smoothly. But then again, I would recommend that Robyn load up on the bargains that are out there.

I am not the meanest or the nicest person around but enjoyed the banter at first - including some of the real jabs both ways. It grew into something else recently when I realized none of you jags have the hint that you are really uninteresting. And I have to admit, I was feeling GUILTY about being mean on this board. But it seems I am not the only one tired of the three stooges. And it's given me motivation to post this one last message: Myk especially, and to some extent, the rest of the regulars: you have purposely turned this board into a boring chat. As I said before, it's not that you veer away from the topic of Robyn, it's that you are so uninteresting when you do. Redjeaves/Voltaic/Squelchy/Manofathousandwhatevers/et-al admits defeat: You are more boring than anybody else. You Win! I Lose!

Dear CHEWING WAX and SLEEPY: You have severe mutations in your deoxy-ribonucleic-acid ( You Know DNA) although some mutations are normal for diversity in the population. Your mutations exceed the norm drastically. Unfortunately this is directly proportional to your intellegence quotiant (you know I.Q.)But this explains perfectly your BORING EXISTANCE. Speaking on a professional level I would have to say your I.Q.'s range from that of a snail to a cadaver.
